Just Move It 2026

T'áá Hwó' Ají T'éego

Just Move It (JMI) is an annual fun run/walk series that promotes physical activity to keep our bodies healthy. JMI is hosted across the FDIHB, Inc. service area in collaboration with the community, Chapter Houses, and other tribal organizations.

The theme for this year's JMI is to "Know the ABC's of Diabetes". The ABC's can help you manage and prevent diabetes.

A is for A1C. An A1C test is short for hemoglobin A1C. It is a measurement of your average blood sugar (blood glucose) over the last 3 months. Controlling your blood sugar level will help prevent complications.

B is for blood pressure - the higher you blood pressure, the harder your heart has to work.

C is for cholesterol. Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance produced by the liver found in animal-based foods. There are two types of cholesterol,  LDL (bad) and HDL (good) cholesterol. HDL should be 60 mg/dL or higher. HDL helps remove bad cholesterol from your arteries. LDL can build up and clog your arteries. Aim for an LDL level that is below 100 mg/dL. Elevated triglycerides can also increase your risk of heart attack or stroke. Triglyceride level should be below 1150 MG/dL.

Cholesterol levels are measured in milligrams (mg) of cholesterol per deciliter (dL) of blood.

Know your ABC's to prevent and manage diabetes.
